Curled Biopolymers
This is a polyactide fibre, PLA
for short. It is a crop-based fibre derived entirely from
natural renewable sources like corn. We call it a "natural
plastic" because it is made from the dextrose extracted
from corn. The product is extremely strong, provides high
dimensional stability, and is extremely resilient. It has
relatively low flammability and smoke generation
properties, and is more hydrophilic than common polyester
fibres. The low moisture absorption and high wicking make
this material ideal for sports and performance apparel, but
also for bedding applications.
