Needled products

In the needling process the curled fibres are linked together by a special technique, normally onto a hessian or PP backing. A thin layer of latex may also be applied for enhanced binding of the fibres. Needled coir and hair are produced in rolls and sheets. Each of our plants in Volendam, China, Poland and the United Kingdom produces its own specialities. In Havivank we needle a full range of non wovens and fleeces.

Fillerpads:

Fillerpads are available in various thicknesses and weights. The horsetail hair is usually layered onto a spun bond or hessian backing. The backing usually serves as a logistic aid only. When the customer actually uses the sheets in production the backing is peeled off. Usualy these layers are used as comfort increasing layers in the build up of a mattress. Fillerpads come out best (= most resilient) when made from the longest fibres available (horsetail). When considering to use any product containing needled or loose horsehair please take into consideration that individual hairs will tend to 'crawl' up. You will need to put a barrier in place. Our non woven cotton/pes (80/20) 250 grams per m2 has proven to be a good barrier. These pads are delivered in sheets. Recommended weight between 1000 and 1500 grams per m2.

Needled pads:

Needled pads are more compact than fillerpads. It's also hair that is needled onto a backing (hessian or spun bond). Since these pads are more compact they are more suitable for tougher tasks. They make a good pressure devider on top of bonnels for example. These needled pads can be made of various products in various weights. It's always a pretty dense pack. We can deliver in sheets or rolls (max 20 meters). Recommended weight: between 800 and 1500 grams per m2.
